Professor Ava Kwong is Daniel C K Yu Professor in Breast Cancer Research and Clinical Professor of the Department of Surgery at The University of Hong Kong (HKU), Chief of Division of Breast Surgery at HKU, Queen Mary, Tung Wah and HKU-Shenzhen Hospital. Professor Kwong’s research interests focus on breast and ovarian cancer genetics, advanced surgical technologies and clinical trials in oncological treatment. She has authored chapters in textbooks and has over 280 peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals. She has received numerous grants and awards, including a commissioned grant from The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) to study the risk factors of breast cancer and this cooperated study has led to the establishment of the first subsidized risk based breast screening “Breast Cancer Screening Pilot Programme” in Hong Kong. In 2019, She was received Uccio Querci della Rovere Award of BASO~ The Association for Cancer Surgery in United Kingdom. In 2023, she was awarded the HKU Faculty Clinical Service Excellence Awards. Beyond her research, Professor Kwong is active in public and community services. She is the Founder and Chairperson of the Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry, a charitable organization. She is also a member of several committees including Cancer Coordinating Committee of the Health Bureau, The Government of HKSAR and Central Committee on Cancer Service of Hospital Authority, Hong Kong.

She has continued her laboratory research activities in collaboration with the Genome Institute of Singapore and the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, and actively participates in clinical trials. She founded Breast Cancer Research Singapore, a consortium of clinicians and scientists dedicated to basic and translational breast cancer research in Singapore, whose Patron is the President of Singapore, Her Excellency Halimah Yacob. Dr. Lim spearheaded NCCS Home Care, and has contributed to national healthcare financing and policy workgroups set up under the auspices of the Ministry of Health, Singapore.

Dr Lim Sue Zann is a consultant in the Singhealth Duke-NUS Breast Centre. She graduated with honours from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya in 2008. She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and registered as a specialist in general surgery in 2017. She has also completed the Advanced Breast Surgery Fellowship Programme under Singhealth Duke-NUS Breast Centre and Department of Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Singapore General Hospital. This fellowship focuses on both oncological and reconstructive breast surgery. In 2022, she underwent surgical training in Asan Medical Center in South Korea focusing on minimally invasive breast surgery. In 2023, she also visited the Royal Marsden Hospital in London to learn new techniques on oncoplastic breast surgery. She is also actively involved in medical education. She received the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence from Yong Loo Lin Medical School in 2013. She is also an adjunct assistant professor in DUKE-NUS Medical School. She was appointed as a Physician Faculty Member for SingHealth General Surgery Residency Program in 2018 and now a Core Faculty Member in this programme. She is also the Clinical Core Faculty Member for Post Graduate Year 1 Doctors in the Department of General Surgery Singapore General Hospital. Her research interests are mainly in de-escalation of axillary treatment in breast cancer patient, breast sarcoma and phyllodes tumours. Based on her work in the above topic, she was awarded the Singapore General Hospital Research Grant in 2016.

She obtained her Doctor of Medicine (First Degree Honor) from the Mahidol University in 1991, and completed both her residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship training in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, USA. Dr Dejthevaporn has special interest in breast cancer, GU cancer, brain tumor and palliative care. She has conducted clinical research in treatment of various malignancies including breast and lung cancer. She has also contributed to the development of National Practice Guidelines for breast, gastric and esophageal cancers with the National Health Security Office and National Cancer Institute. She is currently a vice president of the Thai Society of Clinical Oncology and Head of Medical Oncology Unit at Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University.

Dr. Tom W. Chen is currently an attending physician at the Department of Oncology, National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) and National Taiwan University Cancer Center in Taipei, Taiwan. Dr. Chen received internal medicine training followed by a fellowship course as a medical oncologist in NTUH. Afterwards, he joined Drug Development Program (DDP) in Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada as a clinical fellow to study early phase clinical trials with Dr. Lillian Siu and Dr. Phil Bedard. During his stay in Princess Margaret, he gained more experience with next-generation sequencing and precision medicine, as well as interest in breast cancer patients. After returning to NTUH, he joined in NTUH breast cancer team and was invovled in various clinical trials including the bevacizumab, cisplatin, and etoposide (the BEEP) regimen in brain cancer patients with brain metastases, the ESR1 mutation landscape in Asian ER+/HER2- metastatic patients, and the combination of lapatinib and vinorelbine in HER2+ MBC.. His publications included studies regarding the thromboembolism events of tamoxifen in Asian population, HER2 treatment reviews, and next-generation sequecing studies in breast cancer. Besides breast cancer, he is also involved in sarcoma and phase I drug development studies.

A recipient of the Singapore National Medical Research Council (NMRC) Clinician Scientist Award (CSA), her research focuses primarily on clinical and translational research in breast cancer, including liquid biopsies and predictive biomarkers, development of novel therapeutic strategies, and epidemiologic studies on treatment outcomes in breast cancer. She is the principal investigator of several phase 1 to 3 clinical trials for various compounds, including CDK inhibitors, PI3K and mTOR inhibitors, selective estrogen receptor degraders, HER2-targeting agents and immunotherapy, in addition to investigator-initiated studies.
